Cataloging & Processing
Our dedicated staff of MLS-degreed catalogers matches the most exacting local practices. We work with your technical services department to provide professionally enhanced MARC records into your library
system. Each of our catalogers receives extensive training to master cataloging standards and they work to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
Our professional processors follow industry–best practices, so you know your materials will arrive exactly the way you want them. Our cataloging professionals were recently recognized by the Library of Congress for reaching NACO (Name Authority Cooperative Program) independence. They were declared seasoned and experienced in name authority creation and described as having a deep understanding of the AACR2 rules and related guidelines. This independence means that our catalogers no longer need to submit the records they create to the Library of Congress for review.
With the coming of the new cataloging standard Resources Description and Access, more access points will be added to bibliographic records and BWI will be in a position to assist you in maintaining the integrity of your bibliographic and authority files.
BWI offers custom cover creation for all of your DVD purchases. We will combine your library-specific information on a reformated reprint that’s custom-fit for the DVD case. This custom cover not only looks professional and doesn’t peel off, it also helps to deter theft.
